How DataSafe Automates Backup and Speeds Recovery
A management client is installed on a desktop or server and used to configure data selection, schedules and encryption levels through an easy step-by-step wizard. No agents are installed on any other servers or desktop machines. To establish a complete full backup, data is now sent via the Internet. (For larger volumes, a postable disk unit is delivered, used for backup sync and shipped back to the Data Centre). Block Change Processing Once the master backup is completed, only new or changed data blocks are detected within files or databases. Blocks are then compressed and optionally encrypted, before being pushed outbound and secured in our world-class data center. Typically, changed block data represents only a few percent of native data, greatly reducing backup times. Integrity checks ensure data sent is equal to data received. * Lastly, but importantly, an email is sent confirming the backup operation. There is no guesswork involved. Quick, Reliable Recovery With no added hardware or manpower, changed data will automatically back up and create retention logs or safesets from which online restores can be made. A data restore wizard requires a few mouse clicks to select and restore files or databases. For DR or very large volumes, a postable disk system can be shipped for a disk-to-disk restore. Key Features & Benefits No Tapes / Hardware - Managed disk-to-disk service removes the cost and complexity of tape and the failure rates associated with tape-based backup and recovery. Total Automation - Data is backed up and secured offsite in an automated process. Reduced Backup Times - Block change technology processes only modified block-level changes, greatly reducing backup times. Immediate Online Restores - Through a simple step-by-step wizard, files are recovered online, in a matter of seconds. Remote Office Management - One system manages the remote LAN with any number of internal or remote servers. Redundant Storage - Backup data is replicated both locally (can be used for local system restore / roll back in emergency) and to a data centre for assured service continuity. End-To-End Encryption - During backup or restore transfer and while stored, data remains encrypted until deciphered on the client-side. There is no back-door ability to decipher data. Database Backup – Specific application integration allows for comprehensive backup and reduced recovery time for Exchange, SQL, Microsoft Cluster and Oracle. OS Support – DataSafe delivers high performance protection for simple networks or complex enterprise environments with support for Windows, NetWare, Linux, Solaris, HPUX, AIX, iSeries and MS Cluster. |
